Dialing for Cocktails to Help EQCAEQCA

A recent statewide poll has shown a six-point increase in support of marriage equality in the last year. But that’s not enough for Team Sac – and you can help make that increase even better.

Who is Team Sac? They are a dedicated group of volunteers that work the phone booths at EQCA’s canvassing office here in Sacramento. Led by Sacramento Field Manager Jennie Reiken they get together and, well, make phone calls. “We know our hard work here in Sacramento is paying off,” said Reiken. “We are able to change the hearts and minds of 20 percent of the people that we talk to. Let’s keep changing those hearts and minds.”

To help do that Outword Publisher Fred Palmer will be manning the phones on Thursday, April 1, from 6 – 9 p.m., and he wants you to join him. And if you know Outword, you know there is always an incentive and Fred says he will provide cocktails afterwards. Actually, that’s two incentives – doing good and toasting each other with a cocktail afterwards.

Jennie will provide the training and guidance, for what she calls persuasion phoning, which is as simple as calling voters and sharing why marriage equality is important to us.

So call Jennie at 916-538-6998 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and let her know you want to join Team Sac. All you need is a cell phone and the desire to help.

The office is located at 1722 J St, Second Floor, Suite 9, between Big Brother Comics and the Gifted Gardner.

“Thanks so much for your support,” says Jennie. “This cause is very important to me and I know if we work together we will win in 2012.”
