The Ball Drops on Another Year...423 cover

Ready or not, Christmas is upon us, and then a week later, New Year’s Eve. This is certainly not news to anyone, but it is pretty amazing how quickly time, and another year, can pass.

Our last issue of 2010 is hitting the streets as I write this and while it’s not a huge, colossal issue, I can say that we are happy and very proud to still be here, providing our signature blend of news, politics and entertainment for Sacramento’s community.

The fantastic cover of this issue was produced by Miss Joy Culley, and we really love it! If you look close you will see almost every cover we produced for 2010. She did such a great job.

Since Outword is supported almost completely by advertising revenue, it’s only prudent to stop and thank our advertisers, both old and new, for advertising with us and acknowledge that by doing so, they are supporting our community. Example: How many of you have felt uncomfortable when you went to buy a car? Isn’t it nice to know that Roseville Volkswagen is courteously asking for your business?

I can’t use every advertiser as an example, but please take a moment to stop and absorb just what it is that these businesses are doing by courting your hard earned income.

As always, this issue filled up very quickly with all kinds of stories. We threw in a public service announcement about the perils of drinking and driving, there’s a plug for the new Lambda Players’ production, there are a lots of pictures from various holiday gatherings around town and a mention about the California Music Theatre’s production of “Cirque Dreams Holidaze.”

Of course, the always conversational, Chris Narloch has a group of stories and reviews about some of the hottest entertainment happenings, and it’s always fun to read what he has to say. Thank you, Chris, for all that you have done for Outword over the years. The paper just wouldn’t be the same without your input.

So we hope you will pick up the new issue of Outword and give it a once over - maybe twice. All of us here will be taking some time to slow down and enjoy the Christmas holiday as well as the ringing in of the new year.

Our first issue of 2011 will hit the streets on the second Thursday of January, the 13th. Till then, take very good care, party hearty, sleep all day, lay around with the dogs watching TV, pull weeds in your garden or just about anything that makes you feel good. We should all look to the horizon for a nicer, more fruitful year in 2011 - after what we have all been through, we deserve it.
