Outword’s Sacramento Pride/Official Sac Pride Guide Issue is Out Now!

It is indeed, that time of year again. It’s Pride Season and while some have already come and gone, Sacramento’s pride is not until June 8 and 9. Our newest issue, on newsstands now, highlights the upcoming festival and celebration, as well as their headlining entertainer, Lizzo. (Yes, that’s her on the cover.) The pride guide pages begin on page 22.

To begin with, Outword would like to thank Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Vice Mayor Steve Hansen for their letters welcoming Sacramento Pride and everyone that will be attending and celebrating. We very much appreciate that they both took some time to recognize and welcome our community.

As for other information about Sacramento’s Pride and who puts it all together, be sure to also read page 13 from the Executive Director, David Heitstuman, about what’s new and different with this year’s affair. Check out page 14 to get the scoop on the new Pride Director, and certainly don’t miss page 27 to read all about the phenomenon that is Lizzo!

It’s easy to see that this is our biggest issue of the year, (76 pages!) and that this communique only touches on some of the stuff you will find inside the magazine, but please rest assured that there is Lots and Lots of great stuff on its pages. So pick up a paper version or read it online for free.

Pride Season is always a time when we here at Outword, like to take time to say “Thank You!” to everyone that makes Outword Magazine possible. That means all the writers and editors for their great content, the photographers who love to snap an entire story in a single image, the graphic artists for helping us get our ideas on a piece of paper, or the web, and make it clean, crisp and pretty, to those that help us distribute our papers and keep our racks clean, and for everyone else that helps pull this body of work together.

Outword is going into its 24th year serving the Sacramento area and we are looking to keep doing it for years to come. What we realize more than anything, is that that would not be possible without you, our readers, customers and those in the community that tirelessly support us. Thank you all.

So there you have it. A big, huge Pride issue. An extended two-day Pride festival. A thriving LGBTQ community and so much more. Go out and have a wonderful Pride season, remember what we have been through to get here, and how much more we have to do to get to where we should we. But most of all have fun and enjoy our surrounding community, and be safe.

Happy Pride Sacramento!
