Watch A DVD This Weekend

Streaming, video on demand, and DVDs are a great way to catch up on movies that never made it to town, received a very limited local release, or were made before you were born.

The following four films are now available on DVD and Blu-ray and include two fascinating titles from 2017 and a pair of movies I saw as a teenager that made an impression on me back in the day.

Covered California’s Open Enrollment Deadline Nears

The calendar has turned to 2018, and Covered California is in the homestretch of its drive to sign people up for health insurance by Jan. 31, the final day to enroll.

As an incentive, the agency, which administers the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in the state, is touting lower prices and financial assistance available to most Californians who qualify.

Linda Eder To Sing In San Francisco This Weekend

Broadway and recording artist Linda Eder possesses one of the greatest contemporary voices of our time. The singer launched her recording career in 1991 with her self-titled debut album, and Eder has since established herself as a popular live act, known for her incredible power and range as a singer.

Eder has recorded 16 solo albums including her most recent CD, “Retro”, a special collection of compositions written during the past 20 years for shows and projects that did not happen despite the beauty of the songs.

Don’t Miss “The Post” & “Paddington 2”

Celebrate Elvis Presley’s Birthday At The Crest This Saturday, Jan. 6

Sacramento’s Crest Theatre is the place to be this weekend as that historic movie palace celebrates Elvis Presley’s birthday (two days early) on Saturday evening and then celebrates its loyal patrons with a free film classic on Sunday evening, Jan. 7.

Viva Las Vegas
If you’ve never seen Elvis Presley strut his stuff on the big screen, you will have a rare opportunity this Saturday when the Crest screens “Viva Las Vegas,” costarring the great Ann-Margret -- no slouch in the hip-shaking department herself.
