Congratulations to Stonewall's Four Freedoms Winnersf reedoms

The Sacramento Stonewall Democrats paid tribute to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's famous Four Freedoms Speech by awarding deserving individuals who embody the spirit of the Four Freedoms.

The Awards were presented on Wednesday, May 26th at the Radisson Hotel.


The Freedom from Want Award went to Betty Yee, State BOE Chair; the Freedom of Speech and Expression Award was presented to Fred Palmer, Outword Magazine Publisher; The Freedom of Worship Award was given to David Schenirer, McClatchy High School Senior; and the Freedom from Fear Award was presented to Dr. Jennifer Choy, Kaiser Permanente Physician. 

In addition, this year's 2010 President's Award was given to Assembly Speaker John A. Perez. Unable to make the ceremony, the award was accepted for Perez by Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, who had the the audience laughing in the aisles with his acceptance speech.

Stonewall's Communication Chair Patrick Holstine emceed the event, which featured many elected politicians and candidates. California Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg spoke at the dinner, recognizing the Club for its efforts in helping to elect Democratic candidates and working for equality.

Club President Chris Moore also spoke, thanking club members for their hard work over the past year and for making the Sacramento Stonewall Club the largest in the nation.
