Broadway’s ‘Falsettos’ Coming To The Tower Theatre

by Chris Narloch

If you saw the Tony Awards this year, you got a tantalizing taste of the now-closed, limited Broadway engagement of ‘Falsettos,’ when the original cast of the gay-themed musical reassembled to perform a number from the show during the telecast.

Now, Live From Lincoln Center will present the entire Lincoln Center production of ‘Falsettos’ in cinemas, including Sacramento’s Tower Theatre, next Monday evening, July 17, at 7 p.m.

Nominated for five 2017 Tony Awards, ‘Falsettos’ is a hilarious and poignant look at a modern family, revolving around the life of a gay man (Marvin), his wife, his lover, his soon‑to‑be‑bar‑mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbians next door.

Originally created under the specter of the AIDS crisis, this popular musical about middle‑class family dynamics manages to remain buoyant and satirically perceptive even as it moves towards its heartbreaking conclusion.

Lincoln Center Theater’s production of ‘Falsettos’ stars Andrew Rannells, Christian Borle, Stephanie J. Block, and Brandon Uranowitz. (All of them received Tony nominations for their respective performances, and the show was also nominated for Best Revival of a Musical this year but lost to ‘Hello, Dolly’.)
