Don’t Miss ‘Fame – The Musical’ at Harris Center in Folsom

by Chris Narloch

“Remember my name. I’m gonna live forever.” Who could forget those immortal words from “Fame,” Irene Cara’s theme song to the 1980 film of the same name?

After that Academy Award-winning film came an Emmy-winning TV series and then a stage musical – all conceived and developed by David De Silva.

“Fame – The Musical” is the inspiring tale of young artists studying dance, music and theatre while attending the New York High School of the Performing Arts.

The show follows the final class of that famous school from their admission in 1980 to their graduation in 1984. Having survived rigorous auditions and chosen from some 4,000 students that applied, only 97 were admitted.

Some will succeed, while for others the pressures of a life on stage will be too much. Follow those ups and downs in “Fame – The Musical,” which will perform four times this weekend, Jan. 13 – 15, 2017.
