These days it seems like all you hear is how folks are trying to lose weight and save money. Everyone knows one good way to help do both is to take your lunch to work, which lets you take control of what you eat and how much it costs you on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, I’m not the best at keeping to a regiment like this, but I do keep these things in mind when I am making a big pot of soup. It’s easy to transport and heat up at work, and makes a great compliment to a sandwich from the sandwich shop, that is luckily for me, just downstairs from my office.

Our very own Chris Narloch sat down with Paula Deen, the Food Network cooking star before she announced she has Type 2 diabetes, since she is scheduled to be in our town on February 3rd. In the interview Paula very lightly touches on diabetes and her style of food, but for the most part this interview is about her and other fun things. Her upcoming appearance at the Community Center should be a hoot!

A Night of Mystery, Music, and Mayhem at STC,  Plus The Pirates of Penzance

Our Arts and Entertainment Editor Chris Narloch has two theatre recommendations for you, a very special night of mystery dinner theater and the classic Gilbert and Sullivan light opera filled with pirates and laughs.

Sacramento Theatre Company (STC) has a fun night planned at the Solomon Dubnick Gallery, on Saturday, February 25, to benefit STC and their School of the Arts. In connection with the theme for their 2011-2012 Season, STC will present “A Night of Mystery, Music, and Mayhem.”
